For many across Canada May 2-4 weekend signifies the start of summer.
For some, it is the time for de-winterizing the cabin, for getting the garden set up for the summer, or for general spring cleaning.
For others, it’s the time to sit back, relax, and enjoy some beer.
For some, it is a bit of both.
At the Skerwink Hostel, we fall into this final category.
Our May long-weekend is the first weekend of the season, and therefore, we’re very busy. After a few weeks of deep-cleaning, we’ve opened our doors to the public, and are working hard to make sure everyone is having an amazing time!
We have some family visiting, so we’re taking full advantage of the extra hands to get down and dirty. That means Martha is in the garden, and Gavin is under the staff house.
We have had the pleasure of hosting a few lovely volunteers already this season. Two exchange students from Germany who are spending their summer exploring Canada’s wild East Coast!
They will be heading off in a few days, and we wish them all the best!
Although the weather in Newfoundland is not feeling particularly summery, the sun is shining, and the bays are looking beautiful with icebergs and sea ice in abundance.
We hope you are enjoying your long weekend as much as we are.
