Looking to get outside, learn a new skill, and make some new friends this winter? Why not try snowshoeing with the folks at The Outfitters in St Johns. They offer weekly Friday night sessions whenever the weather permits, or you can sign up to one of their paid day-tours. Fun for the whole family, and a great way to get outside and enjoy the winter wherever you are! As long as there is snow, you can always go snowshoeing!
Cross country skiing is a great way to stay active this winter. You can learn a great skill, and there is an active racing community for the more competitive among us. There are Nordic ski clubs scattered across Newfoundland and Labrador that offer a range of programs, from beginners, to expert. Click on the link above to check out the fantastic Blow Me Down trail network located just outside of Corner Brook.
A list of winter activities is not complete without mentioning some fast-paced downhill fun! If you haven’t experienced Newfoundland’s slopes be sure to check them out this winter! Both White Hills and Marble have a big range of great runs, both on and off piste, and offer a range of programs for everyone from the absolute novice, to the pro!
Looking for a new kind of adventure? Why not try dog sledding in Goose Bay! Experience the fun and the thrill of racing behind a pack of dogs across the snow and ice! Definitely good fun for the whole family, though make sure you are prepared to work, as it’s not just the dogs who will be running!
If you are less interested in the hard work, but still want to see the beauty of Newfoundland in the wintertime, why not try zip lining! Take a ride on eastern Canada’s longest, tallest, and most exhilarating zip lining rides with unparalleled views of both the Humber Valley and Marble Mountain Resort. Anyone over 60lbs can go, and you don’t need a high level of physical fitness.
